Stop Motion Animation Ages 8 to 11

This 12 week class focuses on the subject of animation. It is designed to educate the participants in the medium of animation. The class will cover animation history, animation principals, character animation, effects animation, and creating a short animated story. At the end of the course, the student should have an understanding of a brief description of animation history, the 12 principles of animation, how to use a digital tablet and software to create timeline based animation, animating materials in stop motion, animating an actor/character, creating a story, and creating a short animated film.

This class will be taught by Disney artist and animator, Brad Condie, an Assistant Professor of Animation at Ball State University. He teaches traditional 2D animation, character design, experimental animation, and 3D computer animation at Ball State University. Condie has worked in the filmmaking and animation industry for over 17 years working as an artist on six feature length animated films for Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios: Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, Pocahontas, Brother Bear, Atlantis, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He has also worked as an in-game character animator for EA Games on The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 game franchise, and he recently directed and animated the award winning short film, A Drawing.
