Monthly Dance Club is a monthly social dance event at Cornerstone. Each event begins with an hour of dance instruction in swing, ballroom, salsa, or tango dancing led by instructor David Fennig followed by a few hours of open dancing. The next Monthly Dance Club is Saturday, May 5 from 7-10:30 p.m. and is $12 per person or $7 for students, no pre-registration is necessary for this event.
Calling all Princesses between the ages 4 and 12, a Princess Tea Party is coming to Cornerstone on Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This workshop is a fun interactive event where attendees will focus on the creation of a one of a kind princess accessory. This month each princess will create her own princess wand. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite gown. Registration is just $15 per princess.
Bad Art Night will be at Maring-Hunt Library on Thursday, May 10 at 6 p.m. This collaboration between Cornerstone and Muncie Public Library encourages attendees to raid through a collection of arts and crafts supplies to make art with very low expectations. Guests are awarded for their tacky, terrible, and creepy art with various prizes. The event is open to ages 18 and up and is free to attend with a suggested $5 donation to help with costs.
Cornerstone at Books & Brews is an all-new workshop which will feature a different class sampling from Cornerstone each month. The May 10 workshop will explore the art of graffiti lettering with instructor Leon Crosby. The registration fee of $20 includes the cost of supplies, instruction, and one drink. This workshop will take place at Books & Brews on May 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is open to ages 21 and up.
The next Coffee & Paints workshop will be on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to students in the 4th grade through adults. Attendees who are experienced artists or are completely new to painting will enjoy creating in this relaxed atmosphere. Registration is $25 per person. May’s featured painting is an underwater jellyfish.
The Oh That’s Funny! workshop covers both stand-comedy and improvisational comedy. You will find out how to write and perform jokes as well as learn the fundamentals of improvisation. If you have comedy experience, bring your best three minutes of material and we’ll refine it. If you are just beginning, bring your best intentions and we’ll explore them. This workshop is for students ages 16 to adult. Come learn some stand up comedy, Saturday, May 19 at 1:00 p.m.
Storytelling for Kids is a workshop that will help students learn to tell stories in an imaginative way. In the workshop, students will use their creative thinking to tell stories and bring the audience into the world of the story. This class is for students ages 5 to 13. Storytelling for Kids workshop is Saturday, May 19 for just $15.00.
Pints & Paints is a unique painting experience held at The Fickle Peach in Downtown Muncie. Attendees will enjoy two hours of creating a unique featured painting at each workshop. The workshop is for ages 21 and up and includes one drink in the $25 registration fee. The next Pints & Paints will be on May 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will feature a beach painting.
