July’s calendar of events includes Monthly Art Club, Monthly Dance Club, Bad Art Night, Pints & Paints, Flower Pot Fairy House, Summer Arts Camp, and Coffee & Paints.
Monthly Art Club will be on Wednesday, July 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Cornerstone’s visual arts instructor, Lauren King; will lead the club with an hour of art appreciation and demonstration on the evening’s topic followed by open studio time. Monthly Art Club offers the opportunity to express yourself creatively while connecting with other artists. All supplies are provided in the $10 fee, which allows you free reign of Cornerstone's art studio. Monthly Art Club is open to ages 14 and up.
Monthly Dance Club is a monthly social dance event at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Each event begins with an hour of dance instruction in swing, ballroom, salsa, or tango dancing led by instructor David Fennig followed by open dancing. The event is a great way to spend a Saturday evening with friends while showing off already existing dance skills or learning a new dance form. The next Monthly Dance Club is July 8 and is $12 per person or $7 for students, no pre-registration is necessary for this event.
Bad Art Night will be at Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Thursday, July 13 at 6 p.m. This collaboration between Cornerstone and Muncie Public Library encourages attendees to raid through a collection of arts and crafts supplies to make art with very low expectations. Guests are awarded for their tacky, terrible, and creepy art with various prizes. The event is open to ages 18 and up and is free to attend with a suggested $5 donation to help with costs.
Pints & Paints is a unique painting experience held at The Fickle Peach in Downtown Muncie. Attendees enjoy two hours of creating a unique featured painting at each workshop. The workshop is for ages 21 and up and includes one drink in the $25 registration fee. Pints & Paints will be on Thursday, July 13. Photos of upcoming paintings are available on Cornerstone Center for the Arts’ Facebook page.
The Flower Pot Fairy House workshop allows children ages four through sixth grade to create a mystical fairyland on top of a flower pot! Students spend the workshop creating a miniature living space from various found objects and craft supplies in Cornerstone’s art studio. The workshop is $30 per person to attend.
Cornerstone’s Summer Arts Camp is July 17 through 21 with rotating classes each day in visual arts, theatre, martial arts, science, and technology.
