Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery

Cornerstone Center for the Arts is excited to announce the opening and dedication of the Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery. This is a well-deserved recognition of Muncie Center for the Arts founder Judy Barnes and her vision for Cornerstone Center for the Arts.

This renovation of the second-floor west wing includes new flooring, updated lighting, and renovated restrooms. In honor of its namesake, the gallery features two plaques beside a portrait of Judy. One plaque recognizes the donors who graciously gave to this project, without whom it would not have been possible. The second plaque recognizes the special support and funding given over the years that made Judy’s dream come true.

The grantors who have supported Judith Barnes’ dream are: the Ball Brothers Foundation, George and Frances Ball Foundation, The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Hamer D. and Phyllis C. Shafer Foundation, Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball Foundation, Indiana Arts Commission, Lilly Foundation, Subaru Foundation, Psi Iota Xi, Alpha Chapter, Harry and Janet Kitselman Fund, Maxon Foundation Fund, and Star Press Children’s Charity.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts continues Judy Barnes and Beth Turcotte's mission of Access to the Arts for All.  The Muncie Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting will be Wednesday, July 25 at 5:00 PM with an art exhibition featuring the work of Cornerstone students. The Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery will feature a different local artist each month in coordination with Downtown's First Thursday art exhibitions. Join us in August for the first monthly exhibition of the newly renovated gallery.
