Cornerstone Center for the Arts has a full schedule for the month of December with workshops throughout the holiday season. The workshops include Monthly Dance Club, The Art of Getting Crafty at Guardian Brewing Co., Kids & Paints, Holiday Painting in Yorktown, It’s All About the Arms, Veil Combos with Liz, Coffee & Paints, and Pints & Paints.
Monthly Dance Club is a monthly social dance event at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Each event begins with an hour of dance instruction in swing, ballroom, salsa, or tango dancing led by instructor David Fennig followed by open dancing. The event is a great way to spend a Saturday evening with friends while showing off already existing dance skills or learning a new dance form. The next Monthly Dance Club is Saturday, December 2 at 7 p.m. and is $12 per person or $7 for students, no pre-registration is necessary for this event.
The Art of Getting Crafty at Guardian Brewing Co. is a holiday workshop held on Tuesday, December 5 from 6-7:30 p.m., in which attendees will be making a holiday decor piece while enjoying craft beer from Guardian Brewing Co. A focus on design keeps this project classy and challenges participants to look at how color, texture, size, and arrangement can change a simple craft into an elegant, decorative piece. The workshop will be at Guardian Brewing Co. located in Madjax, and registration is $20 which includes one drink and supplies to make the craft. Registration is open to ages 21 and up.
Kids & Paints will be on Friday, December 8 at 6 p.m. Children ages seven and up will enjoy this fall-inspired painting workshop for experienced and brand new artists. Registration is $25 and adults are welcome to join and paint alongside their children as well; this class is all about having fun. An additional registration and registration fee is required for adults wishing to paint.
Holiday Painting in Yorktown will be on Tuesday, December 12 from 6-8 p.m. Cornerstone paired with Yorktown Council for the Arts will host this holiday painting workshop at Two Friends Boutique in Yorktown. Attendees of all ages will paint a holiday-themed painting, while enjoying free refreshments for an evening of family fun and holiday cheer. This workshop is open to ages 7 and up. Registration is $25 and adults are not required to register if they are helping a child paint.
It’s All About the Arms is a dance workshop that will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 2-3 p.m. as a part of Winter Hafla & Fundraiser. A dancer’s arms are the loudest part of your technique as an artist. This workshop will teach you how to take your improvisation and choreography to the next level all by framing the story with your arms. Registration for this workshop is $10.
Veil combos with Liz is a dance workshop that will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. as a part of Winter Hafla & Fundraiser. This workshop will focus on basic and advanced veil movements in the art of belly dancing. This beautiful addition to the dance adds color, flow and dynamics to any choreography or improvisation. Registration for this workshop is $10.
Coffee & Paints will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. This relaxing morning workshop is perfect for those who want to give their friends and family a handmade holiday gift. This workshop is available for students ages 4th grade to adult and registration is $25 per person. Photos of featured paintings are on Cornerstone Center for the Arts’ Facebook page.
Pints & Paints is a unique painting experience held at The Fickle Peach in Downtown Muncie. Attendees enjoy two hours of creating a unique featured painting at each workshop. The workshop is for ages 21 and up and includes one drink in the $25 registration fee. Pints & Paints will be on Thursday, December 28.
