Cornerstone Center for the Arts, in partnership with PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union, will host the Young Artist Exhibition on Thursday, March 1 for school-age children in Delaware County. The show is free to enter for students in kindergarten through twelfth grades who reside in or attend school in Delaware County. The public reception on March 1 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. will take place in conjunction with First Thursday and is free and open to attend.
This is the second year for the show which will feature both 2D and 3D artwork submitted by local students. Entries will be placed into four grade categories: kindergarten-second, third-fifth, sixth-eighth, and ninth-twelfth. Submissions will be accepted at Cornerstone Center for the Arts’ second floor information desk from Wednesday, February 14 through Friday, February 23. Teachers may submit up to 10 pieces of work or students may submit up to three of their own pieces with assistance from a parent or guardian. Click here for submission forms.
Prize packages, including cash awards, will be chosen for first, second, third, and honorable mentions in each category. A panel of community judges will select awards prior to the public reception. All artwork will be displayed at Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 1 in conjunction with March’s First Thursday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Students and families, along with the rest of the community, will be invited to attend the exhibition to view the artwork, enjoy refreshments, and check out the winning artwork. Awards will be announced at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
Winning artwork will be on display in the Cornerstone Art Gallery throughout the month of April. There will be an opening reception for the winners showcase on Thursday, April 5 in which all winners are invited to attend and speak to the public about their work. Additionally, winning artwork may be displayed at PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union’s three locations.
