Cornerstone Center for the Arts is excited to partner again with Rock and Roll Summer Camp for a winter workshop designed to expand the horizons of music-minded kids ages 11 to 17. This six day immersive program encourages guitarists, drummers, bassists, singers, keyboardists, and DJs of all skills to take their love of music to the next level..
Rock and Roll Summer Camp was created by musician Christopher Swinney in 2006 and has educated hundreds of children and teens. Many former campers have gone on to work in the music industry as both musicians and on the business side. The workshop will be held on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm beginning on Saturday, February 3 with the workshop concluding in a concert on Sunday, March 4. Campers will spend five days learning about being a musician, music theory, song writing, concert production, promotion, presentation, music business, stage presence, instrument care, recording and producing live sound, networking, and music appreciation. The final day will be spent setting up for and performing in the finale concert.
Students will be split into groups by their previous skill level; basic, intermediate, and advanced. Groups will form bands and will work on songs to perform for the end of camp concert. Campers should plan to bring any instruments/amplifiers they own to camp. If a child does not own any of their own instruments, a limited number will be available to borrow or campers new to music will be trained in other various aspects of band and music management.
Cornerstone has partnered with the Yorktown Council for the Arts for an evening of holiday painting at Two Friends Boutique in Yorktown. This workshop will feature a Christmas themed painting led by instructor Sarah Shaffer, free refreshments, and family fun! Adults are not required to register if they are helping a child paint. Spots are limited.
Two Friends Boutique is located at 9204 W Smith St. Yorktown, Indiana 47396
