Class Description:

This class is full of energy and fun. Students will learn the latest hip-hop dance moves influenced by popular songs, while focusing on dance conditioning, individualized steps, and combinations. If you have an interest in dance and want to move, this is the class for you.

If you have a kid who loves crafts, this class is perfect for you! Let our experience art instructor guide your child through the creative process making fun crafts and leave the clean up to us. Students will explore a variety of mediums while creating their own unique piece of art.

Join Cornerstone Center for the Arts visual arts instructor, Lauren King, for Monthly Art Club on the first Wednesday of every month from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monthly Art Club offers the opportunity to express yourself creatively while connecting with other artists. In addition, all supplies are provided which allows you free reign of Cornerstone's art studio. Art Club will begin with an hour of demonstration/lesson focusing on that evening's topic followed by a few hours of open studio/creation time. Art Club is open to ages 14 and up and is just $10 per person which includes all supplies and instruction. Each day will include instruction in multiple areas. Camp will conclude with a showcase on Friday afternoon. Limited financial aid is available and is awarded at the discretion of the Education Department on a first come, first serve basis. The reduced fee with financial aid is $125. A financial aid application is required and is available online or at Cornerstone. Enrollment fee is discounted to $90 per student when more than one child per family is enrolled (use the multiple child link to register). Students must bring a lunch each day. Camp sessions are subject to cancellation or modification if there is insufficient enrollment. In the event of cancellation, campers will be notified and refunded in full.

Learn ways to use paint. This class will start out with an introduction to drawing an object, and move quickly into learning how to create the colors you need and the brushstrokes that suit your artistic style to create your very first painting or your 500th.

With a mix of Victorian style and steam-powered flair, the Steam Punk trend is something that can't be found in stores. The spirit of DIY, repurposing, and invention, students will have an opportunity to design and create their own Steam Punk-style accessories.

Mix things up a bit! This class will teach students how to develop mixed media paintings that have personal significance through abstraction and symbolism. Use acrylic texturizing mediums along with a wide variety of other materials to add surface texture to the canvas. The perfect class for students interested in creating uniquely personal works of art, putting aside perfection and thinking more creatively.

This class is designed for the earliest of dancers and will focus on physical and social benefits of ballet, song, and movement in a fun and informal atmosphere.

Students will discover, expand, and showcase their theatrical talents through hands on exercises. They will learn how to express their own ideas, create their own pieces of theatre while thinking outside the box and becoming comfortable onstage. Students will walk away with invaluable skills of collaboration and appreciation for themselves and their peers. Focus on group scenes and imaginative script writing.

A group class for kids ages 8 to 11 years old who are new to the piano or have completed Early Piano. Learn about the keyboard, reading music, rhythm, and more. Students will be in a group setting with some individual instruction – a perfect way to learn to play the piano! This class is a 7 week class and the last day will be Thursday, July 20.

Instills music appreciation and understanding into young children through creative activities and plenty of time tickling the ivory! Children love our electric piano lab, lively instruction and class structure. This is an excellent introduction to music and instrumental development. USA Combat Jujitsu is a combat martial art that focuses on survival in real life street situations. An attacker can use guns, knives, sticks, strength and strikes. We teach how to defend yourself and your family from these attacks and walk away with your life. We use blocks, holds, joint locks, leverage, strikes and throws to subdue the attacker. It doesn’t matter your size or your strength you can have the ability to survive any size attacker. This course is for returning students who have studied USA Combat Jujitsu. This class will begin on Tuesday, May 16 and end on Thursday, August 10.

USA Combat Jujitsu is a combat martial art that focuses on survival in real life street situations. An attacker can use guns, knives, sticks, strength and strikes. We teach how to defend yourself and your family from these attacks and walk away with your life. We use blocks, holds, joint locks, leverage, strikes and throws to subdue the attacker. It doesn’t matter your size or your strength you can have the ability to survive any size attacker. The online price reflects the additional $75 for new student equipment fee. This class will begin on Tuesday, June 6 and end on Thursday, August 10.

Cornerstone Taijutsu provides a safe, fun, and encouraging environment to grow in confidence, focus, self control and respect. This course is an introduction to ninja style self protection. Students work at their own skill level, learning self defense, fitness, and agility in this challenging and non-competitive martial art course. Students who have blue, red, or green belts enroll in this class. This class will begin on Tuesday, May 16 and end on August 10.
