Cornerstone Center for the Arts had an incredible year providing arts education to over 2,000 youth and adult students in Delaware County and the surrounding areas. The organization is looking forward to continuing its goal of providing high quality, low-cost arts education to all in 2018. The next 12 week session of arts classes will begin the week of February 5 with classes for youth and adults in visual arts, dance, theatre, music, martial arts, fitness, and more!
Cornerstone’s youth classes start with ages one and continue through high school. Classes offered this spring include: early ballet ages 1-2, early ballet i, early ballet ii, youth ballet, early tap, youth tap, early hip hop jazz i, early hip hop jazz ii, youth hip hop ages 6-9, youth hip hop ages 10-13, boys hip hop, jazz funk ages 10-13, jazz funk ages 14-18, youth ballroom dancing, youth lyrical, youth musical theatre, early piano, youth piano, private piano, voice, drums, guitar, strings, saxophone, and horn lessons, martial arts for new students and returning lower and middle belts, acting 101, acting 102, yo! stretch with me, youth yoga, sensory art ages 1-3, family art ages 3-5, animal drawing, lettering and calligraphy, manga and comic book drawing, creative drawing, wax art, Harry Potter crafts, painting, youth ceramics, family ceramics, and more!
For teenagers and adults of all ages Cornerstone will offer a variety of weekly classes. Courses to consider include: non-performance ballet, performance ballet, adult tap, contemporary and jazz, jazz technique, hip hop combos, ballroom dancing, Indian and Bollywood, beginning belly dance, belly dancing with veil, private piano, voice, drums, guitar, strings, saxophone, and horn lessons, USA Combat Jujitsu for new and returning students, hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga, pilates, piloxing, calligraphy and graffiti, manga and comic book drawing, creative drawing, salvage art, landscape painting, farmhouse vintage, acrylic painting, drawing, ceramics, and more!
In addition to weekly classes, Cornerstone will offer a series of one-time workshops from January through May for both youth and adults. Workshops planned for children include Kids & Paints, Party like a Princess, Mask Making, Auditioning, Princess Tea Party, and Storytelling for Kids. One time workshops for teens and adults are: Monthly Dance Club, The Art of Getting Crafty at Guardian Brewing Co., Bad Art Night with Muncie Public Library, Coffee & Paints, Pints & Paints at The Fickle Peach, Heroes of Black History: Great Escapes, Oh, That’s Funny!, Chick Lit: Mapping the Lives of Inspiring Female Authors, and Acting & Improv.
Cornerstone will also host two special programs this spring for youth. First, Cornerstone has collaborated with Rock and Roll Summer Camp for a special winter workshop, which will meet on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm from February 3 through March 3 with a concert on Sunday, March 4. In addition, Cornerstone will have its annual Spring Break Arts CampMonday, March 26 through Wednesday, March 28.
Cornerstone offers financial aid scholarships to youth and adults who qualify. One partial or full scholarship per person is awarded per session. Applications for financial aid are available online or in person at Cornerstone’s second floor desk.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts will participate in the Giving Tuesday movement on Tuesday, December 3. Giving Tuesday is a worldwide day dedicated to strengthening communities, encouraging giving and celebrating generosity. Each year, Giving Tuesday takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to kick-off holiday giving. Local communities are encouraged to participate at the individual, nonprofit and corporate levels.

Join Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Thursday, November 7 for the opening reception of Inamorata & the Floating City featuring art by Sarah Richcreek. The reception will take place in the Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery on the second floor of Cornerstone from 5 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with November’s First Thursday events.
