The beginning of 2019 is nearing closer. For the New Year, why not try out a new art form for yourself or your child by taking a class at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Cornerstone has something for the entire family starting at ages one through adults of all ages! Spring classes begin the week of February 4 and continue through the week of April 29. Registration is now open for the 12-week session of classes for youth and adults in visual arts, dance, theatre, music, martial arts, fitness, and more!
Cornerstone’s youth classes start with age one and continue through high school. Classes offered this spring include: Creative Movement, Early Ballet I, Early Ballet II, Early Ballet III, Youth Ballet, Early Tap, Youth Tap, Early Hip Hop Jazz I, Early Hip Hop Jazz II, Youth Hip Hop, Boys Hip Hop Ages 5-9, Boys Hip Hop Ages 10-14, Youth Swing Dancing, Youth Lyrical, Early Musical Theatre, Youth Musical Theatre, Youth Contemporary & Jazz, Martial Arts Lower Belts for new and returning students, Martial Arts Middle Belts, Preschool Art, Animal Drawing, Family Ceramics, Creative Drawing, Urban & Street Arts, Fundamentals of Art, Youth Ceramics, Harry Potter, Youth Painting, Youth Watercolor, Manga & Comic Book Drawing, Sculpture from Pop Culture, Slime Making, Acting 101, Acting 102, Beginner Performance Group, Intermediate/Advanced Performance Group and more!
For teenagers and adults of all ages Cornerstone will offer a variety of weekly classes. Courses to consider include: Adult Ballet I Non Performance, Adult Ballet I Performance, Adult Ballet II, Adult Tap, Adult Contemporary, Adult Hip Hop, Contemporary & Hip Hop Fusion, Ballroom Dancing, Swing & Salsa Dancing, Bollywood, Beginning Belly Dance, Improvisational Belly Dance, Irish Step Dancing Level 1, Irish Step Dancing Level 2, USA Combat Jujitsu for new and returning students, Basic Yoga, Zumba, AcroYoga, Core Yoga, Acrylic Painting, Adult Ceramics, Open Ceramics, Fluid Art, Urban & Street Arts, Harry Potter, Adult Painting, Farmhouse Vintage, Watercolor Basics, Watercolor II, Mixed Media Arts, Manga & Comic Book Drawing, Creative Drawing, Acting 201, and more!
Cornerstone offers year round private lessons in the areas of piano, voice, dance, drums, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, cello, and bass. Private lessons meet once a week one on one with an instructor.
In addition to weekly classes, Cornerstone will offer a series of one-time workshops from January through May for both teens and adults. One-time workshops this spring include Monthly Dance Club, Coffee & Paints, Bad Art Night with Muncie Public Library, Indiana’s Hidden Figures: Celebrating African-American Women in Indiana History, Girls Night Out - Jewelry Making, Belles, Baubles, and Beneficence: Historic Stories of Women in Delaware County, with more to be added!
Cornerstone will host multiple youth camps throughout the spring. Rock and Roll Summer Camp will have a Winter Workshop series on Saturdays between January 26 through February 23 with a final concert on February 24. Cornerstone will host its Spring Break Arts Camp March 25 through 27.
Cornerstone offers financial aid scholarships to youth and adults who qualify. One partial or full scholarship per person is awarded per session. Applications for financial aid are available online or in person at Cornerstone’s second floor desk.

Join Cornerstone Center for Arts on Thursday, June 6 for the opening reception of Sparking Nostalgia Through Pop Culture, an art exhibition by Will Britton Jr. The reception will take place in the Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery on the second floor of Cornerstone from 5 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with June’s First Thursday events.
