Spring has sprung here at Cornerstone Center for the Arts! Cornerstone is offering multiple one-time workshops and events to keep you busy during the month of April. Upcoming workshops include Cornerstone at Books & Brews, Monthly Dance Club, Beer Mug Making at Guardian Brewing Co., Princess Tea Party, Stuart Stotts Storytelling Workshop, Pints & Paints at The Fickle Peach, Coffee & Paints, and Acting & Improv.
Cornerstone at Books & Brews is an all-new workshop which will feature a different class sampling from Cornerstone each month. The April 5 workshop will explore the wizarding world of Harry Potter as we make our very own magic wands. Participants will use mixed media and various techniques to create a one of a kind wand. The registration fee of $20 includes the cost of supplies, instruction, and one drink. This workshop will take place at Books & Brews on April 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and is open to ages 21 and up.
Monthly Dance Club is a monthly social dance event at Cornerstone. Each event begins with an hour of dance instruction in swing, ballroom, salsa, or tango dancing led by instructor David Fennig followed by a few hours of open dancing. The next Monthly Dance Club is Saturday, April 7 from 7-10:30 p.m. and is $12 per person or $7 for students, no pre-registration is necessary for this event.
Your friends at Cornerstone are collaborating with the folks at The Guardian Brewing Co. for the Beer Mug Making Workshop. For this two-part ceramics workshop, attendees will learn the skills it takes to make hand-built clay beer mugs the first night of the workshop on Thursday, April 12. The next week on Thursday, April 19, you will return to glaze your mugs in your favorite color or pattern. The $40 workshop registration fee covers all supplies and instruction for both nights of the workshop as well as one beer from The Guardian Brewing Co. each evening. This workshop will be held at The Guardian Brewing Co. located at Madjax Muncie. This workshop is open to ages 21 and up.
Calling all Princesses between the ages 4-12, a Princess Tea Party is coming to Cornerstone on Saturday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This workshop is a fun interactive event where attendees will focus on the creation of a one of a kind princess accessory. This month each princess will create her own princess crown. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite gown. Registration is just $15 per princess.
Stuart Stotts Storytelling Workshop on Saturday, April 14 is brought to by the partnership of Cornerstone Center for the Arts and Masterwork Chorale, will feature an interactive performance by award winning singer, author, storyteller, Stuart Stotts. Stuart has worked as a full-time performer since 1986, and he gives over 200 shows a year for kids, families and adults around the Midwest, and sometimes farther. This workshop is free and open to students in 5th through 8th grades and their families. The workshop will be from 10 to 11:30 am in Cornerstone's Majestic Room.
Pints & Paints is a unique painting experience held at The Fickle Peach in Downtown Muncie. Attendees will enjoy two hours of creating a unique featured painting at each workshop. The workshop is for ages 21 and up and includes one drink in the $25 registration fee. The next Pints & Paints will be on April 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will feature an April showers themed umbrella painting.
The next Coffee & Paints will be on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to students in the 4th grade through adults. Attendees who are experienced artists or are completely new to painting will enjoy creating in this relaxed atmosphere. Registration is $25 per person. April’s featured painting is a portrait of a lion.
The Acting & Improv workshop is coming to Cornerstone on Saturday, April 28. This workshop explores the essentials of acting. If you are experienced, bring a two-minute monologue. If you are novice, bring your desire to become an actor whether it is for fun or a possible career. The workshop will also work on the fundamentals of improvisation. This workshop is for actors ages 16 to adult and is just $20.

Join Cornerstone Center for Arts on Thursday, June 6 for the opening reception of Sparking Nostalgia Through Pop Culture, an art exhibition by Will Britton Jr. The reception will take place in the Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery on the second floor of Cornerstone from 5 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with June’s First Thursday events.
