Theatre Workshop Auditions Date: August 7, 2010 Time: 1:00 PM Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Muncie Civic Theatre and Indiana Public Radio are partnering to present a four day youth theatre workshop on August 11th-14th, finishing with live stage performances on August 15th & 20th-22nd. This educational workshop will be focused on radio theatre during the 1930's with the final productions being staged readers’ theatre performances of the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. Students going into 4th-12th grade will have the opportunity to participate and will be taking on roles of radio announcers creating the story and live sound effects of the show on stage. Students will be learning about the history and legacy of radio theatre throughout the decades. In addition, they will be learning acting techniques and how to be more comfortable in front of an audience and in a group setting. One of the performances will be recorded by Indiana Public Radio, and aired on IPR at a later date so that performers can experience it for themselves!  The fee for the workshop is $50 per student and includes one performance ticket for a family member. Auditions are free and are on Saturday, August 7th at 1:00pm at Muncie Civic Theatre. Students are asked to share a short story or monologue at the audition. If you are cast in the performance, the registration fee must be paid by first day of the workshop. Space is limited for the workshop, so sign up today! Workshop Dates/Times: August 11th-13th from 4:00-7:30pm Saturday, August 14th from 1:00-7:00pm Show performances are open to the public and will be held at Muncie Civic Theatre.
